dude what are you smoking? Mirror's edge had great levels i think the hard part about it was realizing the freedom you had to go up, slide down, back flip off of walls, rails and buildings. It was a great game. High intensity with the rush of police chasing you. I wish they could incorporate changing levels so that each time you played the game it would be different. time trials become no fun after a while and exploring the map during a mission loses that rushed feeling you get making the game slightly less interesting after awhile.

I don't think so. Try getting one of those gamers to play Half-Life 2. "NTY! L33T FRAGZ LOLOLLOLOLOL!!!11!!"

Well- I think that some people might disagree on Need for Speed Underground being a bad game. I didn't actually mean to slam all of those games/iterations, but each game was not loved as universally, shall we say, as Hot Pursuit 2 or Most Wanted.

Carbon was bad. True- small text/bad menus, it was overall just a bad transition to what was then next-gen. ProStreet was much the same. And Undercover has gotten mixed response from gamers. I mean, it worked somewhat as a game, but it seemed like a more broken version of Burnout Paradise with cops. It had sub-par graphics, poor PC optimization, a bad navigation system in its "open world environment"*, a dumb story (although that's fairly typical of the story), and not so great racing/damage systems, as you pointed out.

Also, to be fair, I have not actually played all the iterations and my information is generally second-hand. Having said that, my sources are also pretty reliable.

What do I think about GTA IV? A good game. I'll go into more detail in an article, if you'd like. But I'd like to actually get the game, first! :D

*Quick note about the navigation system- it's not to say Paradise had a particularly GOOD compass, but it was functional.

I love the Halo story line - but mostly only because I've read the books. The games didn't have muh story to them beyond Halo 1.

Personally, the Halo gameplay in general has waned on me recently. I used to find it awesome and quite fun, but now I find it is indeed too generic. The lack of physics and strategy is what gets me. (And Halo 2's crap graphics on the PC killed me. It literally looks worse than Halo 1.)

This early love for Halo may be related to the fact that Halo 1 was the first PC FPS I ever played; and only played for a long time due to my laptop being absolute crap. (An interesting side note; I first played Halo on a Mac) But since then I've been opened up to other FPS's like COD, GOW, Halflife, etc. with the power of an FX and those games have so much more to offer than Halo.

When Halo 2 came out for PC, I played it, and enjoyed it - mostly out of nostalgia. However, it looked like crap, had the same lack of physics, and story line etc. and I was turned off. (I did have a ton of fun with the duel-weilding needlers.)

As you may have guessed, I'm a copmuter guy - PC/MAC - and can't stand most consoles. I've tried playing Halo on the 360 (halo 2 & 3) and I found it to be terrible. The lack of a mouse was just too overwhelming. All your reactions were slowed. (I tend to keep my own mouse on the highest sensitivity so a slight wrist movement translates into a 840 degree spin.)

Is Halo generic? Yes. But I think Halo does deserve a good deal of credit for drawing people into gaming - whether comp or console. I know several people who have bought an XBOX for the sole reason of playing Halo and due to that the online community has also been bolstered.

So, if NFS hasn't put out a good game since Hot Pursuit 2(which, Carbon and Underground were pretty terrible), then what about ProStreet. I thought Prostreet was pretty good. It seemed pretty damn realistic. My current new game preference is GTA IV. What do you think of that?

In answer to your question, yes- but this actually works. Of course, this has many downsides (i.e. many people LIKE the feel of a controller in their hands- air is not satisfying or responsive, and it does not have rumble).
